In the Classroom

Fair Trade Fundraising

If your class or school is doing a fundraiser, consider doing it fair trade. Fundraising with fair trade products benefits everyone!

One option is to try a fundraiser with fair trade coffee from Green Bean Coffee Imports, Manitoba’s first certified fair trade organic coffee roaster. They can even create a custom label for your group!

ONEbean Coffee Company also provides coffee for fundraisers. All profits beyond the cost of the coffee itself will go toward a cause of the school’s choosing (including school activities, etc.).

Please contact us for more information or to let us know of other organizations offering fair trade fundraising programs in Manitoba!

Fair Trade Halloween

This Halloween, young people will be giving treats to adults!

Fair Trade Manitoba is sponsoring Reverse Trick-or-Treating, an international initiative to draw attention to issues in the cocoa industry, like child slavery and poverty. As they go trick-or-treating, young people can hand out samples of fair trade chocolate along with an information card explaining how fair trade is a solution to the problems of the conventional cocoa industry.

Fair Trade Manitoba will have information cards and a limited number of fair trade chocolate samples available for anyone interested in becoming involved in the campaign.

Fair Trade Classroom Presentations

Invite MCIC staff to do a one or two hour fair trade presentation for your school, class or student clubs. These interactive workshops engage students in simulations, games and discussions about global trade relationships and empower participants to take action on these issues within their own communities. We are able to do presentations based on staff availability. To schedule please contact MCIC at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Take the One-Month Challenge

Fair Trade Manitoba’s signature event, the One-Month Challenge, asks participants to commit to having only fair trade chocolate, coffee and tea for one month – from February 14 to March 15. This event is an opportunity to show support for producers in the developing world by consuming fair trade, and is a chance to learn about and discuss fair trade issues.

Challenge your classroom or school to participate in the annual event! Fair Trade Manitoba can support your group by providing information, fair trade presentations/speakers and access to fair trade products.  Contact us for more information.
